Nominal scholarship for talented wind instruments students
  • About the project:
In 2018, together with the Bulat Utemuratov’s Foundation, we established the first Batyrkhan Shukenov Scholarship, which has become an annual support for talented students in wind instrument departments throughout Kazakhstan.

“Support of young talents is one of the priorities of our activity. The saxophone class at the Almaty Conservatory, the first graduate of which was Batyr, opened specifically to support the young musician and thanks to Bibigul Tulegenova and Gaziza Zhubanova’s belief in him. It is very important for us to demonstrate continuity and to support our contemporaries”.
    Nargiz Shukenova

To participate, contestants submitted video recordings of musical pieces of their choice and were interviewed by the jury, which evaluated the participants’ performing skills, artistry and motivation.
Every year young musicians received 10 grants in the amount from 250,000 to 500,000 tenge (6 grants for schoolchildren and 4 grants for students). The size of the scholarship for university students was 500 thousand tenge, and for students of specialized schools – 250 thousand tenge.

Over the years, 30 talented musicians from all over Kazakhstan have received grants.

  • Completion of the Project:
In 2022, the annual scholarship program grew into the Flute Academy, where pupils and students of specialized institutions take practical master classes from leading music teachers.

From April 2 to 6 at the Zhambyl Kazakh State Philharmonic practical master classes will be held by the leading teachers of Germany, Kazakhstan and Russia - Eduard Belmar, Yerzhan Kushanov and Irina Stachinskaya.

As a result of contest selection, 12 participants will be invited to participate in the academy, who will take part in a series of individual master classes on performance skills, music management and promotion in the international market.

Simultaneously during the academy days there will be an exhibition of the Moscow Flute Center and practical master-classes will be held on care and small repairs of the instrument.
Applications from performers will be accepted until March 16, 2022. The academy is open to pupils and students in flute class from the age of 7 and professional performers.

You can learn more about the stages and program of the Academy as well as submit an application for participation at our website in the section “International Flute Academy”.
