2021 Scholarship
Scholarship holders:
Dilyara Azhykanova
Saxophone
Kazakh National University of Arts (Nur-Sultan)
First of all, for me it was the participation and experience that was important. The process itself brought me pleasure, an opportunity to show myself from the professional side, to overcome the fear of an unfamiliar audience.
Since I had transferred from the Folk Instruments department I had to study a lot. I really wanted to feel the piece I was playing deeper, so it was very important to read, listen and process it myself.
I plan to continue training saxophone. I want to become highly skilled in the field. After I gain experience, I would like to share my skills with younger generation.

Samuil Andreykin

Saxophone
Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory (Almaty)
The Batyrkhan Shukenov Scholarship is a moral and material support, an incentive to develop the skills for every student who has taken and will take part in it.
My wonderful teachers, with one of whom I began studying at the Karaganda College, and with another I continue study in the Almaty Conservatory, helped me to choose and prepare the program for the contest. In spite of the quarantine conditions, through uncertainty and discomfort in many moments of training, I am grateful to God and everyone who helped in my development, that it was possible to spend this time with benefit and for the opportunity to continue classes.

Merey Kayirken

Saxophone
Karaganda Specialized Music Boarding School for Gifted Children (Karaganda)
This scholarship will be an indication of my hard work and efforts with the support of my teacher.
I prepared for the contest very carefully and tried to practice more and more to improve my playing. I tried to play the piece as I felt it, also to make the audience feel the same emotions and feelings.
After graduation, I am going to study in Europe, I want to write my compositions, play with an honorary orchestra and become a professional.
Sanzhar Kantay
Clarinet
Kazakh National University of Arts (Nur-Sultan)
To me, the scholarship was a clear example of putting my efforts and work into the right direction.
Preparing during quarantine was not easy, especially keeping myself disciplined. However, I kept repeating to myself, “There will come a time when I will either regret not studying or reap the benefits”.
My immediate goals are contests, admission to a higher education institution and, of course, a new instrument of my own.
Gleb Merzlikin
Clarinet
Kulyash Bayseitova Republican Secondary Specialized Music Boarding School for Gifted Children (Almaty)
The scholarship for me is a great contribution into my future, I am very grateful for the opportunity.
I trained very consciously and responsibly and I can’t stop thanking my teacher for the contribution.
In the future I plan to finish the school and enter a higher education institution, work and study a lot. This is the only way to achieve great goals.
Ayazhan Ospanbayeva
Oboe
Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory (Almaty)
First of all, it is a great honor for me to be a holder of the Batyrkhan Shukenov Scholarship. This scholarship is a reward for my hard work and also a chance to thank my family for the constant support and belief in my talent.
I would like to thank my teacher, Professor Nuraly T.K., for his persistent training and the classes where we honed my presentation. All of this was happening despite the fact that Almaty was in a difficult epidemiological situation at the time. This scholarship motivated me to study even more, and to gain new experiences.
After graduating from the Kurmangazy Conservatory I plan to continue my study. And I would like to work in big foreign symphony orchestras.
Zhasulan Turegeldi
Trumpet
College of Music – Music Boarding School for Gifted Children (Pavlodar)
The scholarship was a great incentive and contribution on the way to acquiring a new instrument. In preparation, I practised every day, following the program clearly, practising the passages and difficult moments of the pieces.

Alibek Tugelbayev

Trumpet
Kazakh National University of Arts (Almaty) This scholarship gives me the opportunity to buy everything I need for my own instrument, as well as not to rest on my laurels. I was careful in choosing each piece and sharpening my performance skills. Only through everyday work you can develop and become better.
